Make Music With Us<\/h3>\n<p class=\"_04xlpA direction-ltr align-start para-style-body\"><span class=\"JsGRdQ\">The BSO is always looking for new musicians to volunteer their time and musical talents to perform in Bloomington\u2019s community orchestra. Our musicians come from diverse backgrounds and we strive for excellence in playing great music while building lasting friendships and enriching our community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Learn more <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomingtonsymphony.com\/join-us\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>2. Join the Leadership<\/h3>\n<p>Considering joining the Board of Directors, or one of our committees. <a href=\"mailto: bso@bloomingtonsymphony,com\">Contact us<\/a> for more information<\/p>\n<div><strong>Education and Outreach (EO):<\/strong>&nbsp;The primary objective of the Education and Outreach Committee is to support the orchestra&#8217;s mission of promoting a lifelong appreciation of and enthusiasm for music through activities such as the Youth Concerto Competition, the Children\u2019s Instrument Recovery Program (ChIRP), side-by-side concerts, the Musical Ambassadors and Meet the Instruments Programs, and others. This committee also is responsible for representing the BSO at community events such as the Fourth Street Festival of the Arts.<\/div>\n<div><strong>Marketing and Communications (MC):<\/strong>&nbsp;The primary objective of the Marketing and Communications Committee is to promote the orchestra through advertising, earned media coverage, digital media, printed materials, merchandise, and other promotional efforts with the aim of increasing visibility, ticket sales, donations, and volunteer service. The committee also is responsible for managing and protecting the BSO brand.<\/div>\n<div><strong>Operations and Development (O\/D):<\/strong>&nbsp;The primary objectives of the Operations and Development Committee are to secure funding (e.g., planned giving, sponsorships, advertising sales, individual donations), oversee the allocation of resources, and manage major changes in organizational operations.<\/div>\n<div><strong>Governance Committee (GC):<\/strong>&nbsp;The primary objectives of the Governance Committee are to recruit and retain effective board members, regularly monitor board performance, and strategize how the board can continue to develop to support the mission. The committee shall ensure that all board and committee projects\/actions are actively working toward the organization\u2019s objectives and regularly evaluate committee performance.<\/div>\n<div><strong>Orchestra Recruitment and Development (ORD)<\/strong>: The primary objectives of the<br \/>\nOrchestra Recruitment and Development Committee are to facilitate communication of<br \/>\nmembership needs, develop strategies to recruit and retain qualified musicians, identify<br \/>\nmusical partnerships (e.g., soloists, other ensembles, supplemental musicians, pedagogical<br \/>\nopportunities) as needed, and work in conjunction with the artistic director on programming<br \/>\nand scheduling decisions. Members of this committee limited to performing members of the BSO)<\/div>\n<div><b>Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI):<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&nbsp;Striving towards <em>diversity <\/em>(<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">presence&nbsp; of differences that may include populations that have been, and remain, underrepresented), <em>e<\/em><\/span><em>quity&nbsp;<\/em>(<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">promoting justice, impartiality and fairness within the procedures, processes, and distribution of resources by institutions or systems), and <em>i<\/em><\/span><em>nclusion<\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>&nbsp;<\/em>(<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">an outcome to ensure those that are diverse actually feel and\/or are welcomed) in all aspects of the BSO.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>3. Outreach Programs<\/h3>\n<p>Our engagement with the community reaches no bounds. We have many ways to engage children, the elderly, and those less fortunate with the musical arts. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomingtonsymphony.com\/outreach\/\">Click here<\/a> to learn more about our outreach programs like the Children&#8217;s Instrument Recovery Program and the annual Youth Concerto Competition.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>4. Donate<\/h3>\n<p>There are many ways to support the orchestra; some options do not cost you any money!
