Members of the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra volunteer their time and musical talents, striving for excellence while building lasting friendships and enriching our community. Our orchestra includes members with various musical backgrounds and performance experience. The BSO performs pieces from a diverse orchestral repertoire during 6 full-orchestra concerts per season, along with several chamber opportunities.

For the upcoming 2023-24 season we have concerts scheduled on August 27, October 22, November 24, March 3, April 7, and May 12. Rehearsals are held on most Tuesday evenings 7-9:30pm at Faith Lutheran Church, with an occassional added Thursday evening rehearsal. You do not have to commit to all of the concerts to join the orchestra.

The first step is to joining the BSO is to fill out THIS SHORT APPLICATION.

Then check out the  audition materials and excerpts for you to start working on a video to submit for us to see how you may fit in among our current musicians. We accept applications year-round from musicians of all ages and all backgrounds. We invite advanced high school students to apply to join the BSO to get the unique experience of playing in a full symphonic orchestra in addition to their school strings program.
